UPDATE: The developers for WorldMate Live have released an update which now allows many of the locked-out users to gain access to their travel schedules. If you were one of the unlucky blackberry users who were locked out with the upgrade, make sure you uninstall the broken application, reset your blackberry, and go to http://get.wmlive.com to download the updated version. This new version will allow the previously locked-out users to login.

Thank you to the developers of WorldMate for fixing this issue. I just wish there had been some communication about the issue.

This was going to be a review/recommendation for anyone who has a blackberry or windows mobile smartphone to go right now and pick up the WorldMate Live application, but something happened during the writing of this post.

This is the way it is supposed to work... if it worked at all.

A few days ago, I received a nice little email from the WorldMate Live crew about the brand new version which had some new features like hotel bookings and a few other updates. And since I was leaving on an extending trip to different parts of Asia, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to test out this new version.

Now I do have to say that up until this point, WorldMate Live has been a great program and I would have recommended this to everyone. And now here comes the enormous BUT…..

But, after I upgraded the program and followed the instructions to reboot the blackberry, I attempted to sign-in to my Gold account (the paid version of the account), and the program decided to hang up and freeze. And I was left staring at a screen that said “Please Wait…”

So I waited…

and waited….

and waited some more!

I thought maybe something had gone wrong with the download and the upgrade. So I uninstalled the program and then rebooted. I proceeded to download a fresh copy of the application on my blackberry and followed the installation instructions and then rebooted again. Same problem, unable to sign into the account.

All the settings were correct. I even followed some suggestions of going into the Blackberry’s options and choosing to “Allow” on all three of the application’s permissions. Still no luck.

I decided it was time to contact WorldMate Live about this issue. One of the reasons I paid the $99.95 for the application was the customer support that was stated was part of the Gold Plan. I went to their website and read that I needed to go through their FAQs before submitting a support request. So, I followed their wishes and actually read through every single FAQ they had on that site. None of them answered my question.

So, I submitted a technical support request. They don’t offer an email address, or a phone number, or a physical address to write. You must fill out an online support request. This didn’t bother me….UNTIL they didn’t respond. I haven’t even gotten an email saying they were working on the issue or that they had received my support request.

The next day, I requested a link to the OLD version of WorldMate Live because I was leaving in a few days on my extended trip. No response to that support request either.

So, I’m now stuck without a functioning application, out $100, and now I need to go enter all my trip details into another program or printout before my trip. Until WorldMate Live realizes how important customer service is to paying customers, I can NEVER recommend this application to anyone.

If anyone has any ideas that I haven’t tried. Or they know of the link to an older download version of WorldMate Live, please let me know.

Until then, all I can do is wait and hope that WorldMate Live grows up and learns the power of RESPONDING TO SUPPORT REQUESTS.

This Olympic preview is for my mother who loves to watch the gymnastics competition. At age 16, Samantha Peszek has the passion of untarnished dreams, but the lack of history to fully comprehend the pressure that comes with those dreams. Will she become the breakout star that many people believe she can be? Being so young and carrying so much pressure on your shoulders can be overwhelming at times. I wonder how she will perform in the coming days?

Like most people around the world, I’m excited that the Olympics are only a few days away from starting. As a former collegiate runner, I’ve admired and enjoyed watching athletes who have the dedication and determination to succeed at the highest levels. A recent series called “A Shot at Glory” focuses on several of the stories of our USA athletes as they prepare for this years Olympics. So in the next few days, before the Olympics begin, I thought I would share several of my favorite episodes that feature some of the athletes that I’m looking forward to watching compete.

Tyson Gay is one of the fastest men in America. Seven years ago, he was a lightly-recruited high school sprinter. Since then, he’s upgraded his name from unknown to world champion. He has run over 25,000 miles to get to where he is today. Are you inspired by Tyson Gay and how do you think he will do in Beijing?

With the rising oil prices its good to look at things with a little perspective. If you consider, that the price of a regular Frappucino at your favorite coffee shop will run you the national average of $4.25 for about 300 ml of frap. And there are about 160,000 ml in a barrel. Which brings the Frap Barrel price to over $2,000 USD.

With such prices skyrocketing out of control, where is the legislation and the assistance to the poor and single mothers of America? Will Obama be able to save us all from the evil Frap making empire of money-hungry executives hunkered down in the luxury of the north-west?

Maybe we should seek alternative Fraps… Like Tofucinos or FrappuSoy or Mocha FrappuCorn. And maybe we should seek government assistance to force those evil coffee geniuses to share their obscene windfall profits with those who just sit at home watching Oprah.

We must all join together and get back to the simpler and more affordable glory days of instant coffee. Mmmm, I think I’ll go ponder this global revolution over my Triple-Venti-Extra-Hot-Hold-the-Whip-Mocha.

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about ageing that you think in fractions. How old are you? “I’m four and a half.” You’re never 36 and a half… you are four and a half going on five!

You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number. How old are you? “I’m gonna be 16.” You could be 12, but you’re gonna be 16. And then the greatest day of your life happens… you become 21.

Even the words sound like a ceremony: you BECOME 21… YES! But then you turn 30… Ooh! What happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. “He TURNED, we had to throw him out.” There’s no fun now.

What changed? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40, you REACH 50… and your dreams are gone.

Then you MAKE IT to 60 (you didn’t think you’d make it!). So you BECOME 21, you TURN 30, you’re PUSHING 40, you REACH 50, you MAKE IT to 60… then you build up so much speed you HIT 70! After that, it’s a day by day thing: you HIT Wednesday… You get into your 80’s, you HIT lunch. You TURN 4:30pm; my grandmother won’t even buy green bananas… it’s an investment you know, and maybe a bad one.

And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90’s, you start going backwards: I was JUST 92… Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again: “I’m 100 and a half!”

Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified candidate for president based on her “record”, which she says includes her eight years in the White House as First Lady - or “co-president” - and her seven years in the Senate. Here is a reminder of what that record includes:

As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill Bradley and Patrick Moynihan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that she would “demonize” anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn’t even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate.)

Hillary assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her first two recommendations, Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood, were forced to withdraw their names from consideration. She then chose Janet Reno. Janet Reno has since been described by Bill himself as “my worst mistake”.

Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission. When Guanier’s radical views became known, her name had to be withdrawn.

Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.

Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. FBI agent Dennis Sculimbrene confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in 1996, both the drug use and Hillary’s involvement in hiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office, after serving seven presidents for over thirty years.

In order to open slots in the White House for her friends the Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for gross mismanagement and their reputations ruined. After a thirty-month investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours.

Another of Hillary’s assumed duties was directing the bimbo eruption squad and scandal defense:

She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit.

She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr’s investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.

Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all.

And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury

And Bill was impeached by the House.

And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, I do not recall, I have no recollection, and I don’t know 56 times under oath).

Hillary wrote It Takes a Village, demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint.

Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had never lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother’s clients, for a small fee, to get financial support.

Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork she had stolen.

In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the woman card by portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her.

Hillary’s husband further protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary’s correspondence and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.)

As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.

Hillary’s one notable vote; supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has since disavowed.

Quite a resume? Sounds more like an organized crime family’s rap sheet.
